Grängesberg

GRANGEX Apatite Project in Grängesberg is a recycling project. Here, the old tailings sand from iron ore processing at the now-closed Grängesberg mine will be recycled to produce highly enriched apatite.

Apatite is a group of minerals composed of phosphates, which are an important ingredient in synthetic fertilizers. Apatite is also used in televisions and glazes. Grangex’s recycling project in Grängesberg is planned to use entirely carbon-free methods for extraction and processing. The project aligns well with societal development, where an important part of the green transition is to find circular processes for materials. By restoring apatite, the project will also help preserve and protect biodiversity.
